Leo Boykewhich

Leo Boykewich, Ben's widowed father. He is known as "The Sausage King" and trusts Ben to do the right thing and is one of the first to suspect Amy's pregnancy. While he doesn't dismiss Ben's strong feelings for Amy, he also encourages Ben to spend a summer in Italy to gain some perspective on his situation, and sends him to work with a family in Bologna, Italy. He begins to date a woman named Betty, the prostitute Tom had once hired. Leo delivered the news to Ben of Grace's dad's death the night after he slept with Betty for the first time, though it is assumed he doesn't know that Betty is a prostitute. We later learn from Betty that she was very upfront with her work the first day she introduced herself to him, because she was afraid of embarrassing him. He later proposes to Betty, not knowing she was married but wants to be with him. He promises to hunt down her husband, who hurts her, so they can get married and takes Ricky under his wing by giving him a job at the butcher shop and allowing him to live in the upstairs apartment.
